What is telehealth?

Your sexual and reproductive health can't wait. By phone or video, telehealth delivers high quality care whenever you need it. Got questions about your prescriptions, how to manage your birth control or treat that STD? Ease your mind. Get care. Save a trip. Planned Parenthood offers telehealth because we know you need help now.

Frequently Asked Questions

You ask, we answer.

How much will my telehealth visit cost?

It varies. Your telehealth visit may be free or low cost with health insurance. But some insurance plans don’t cover all sexual and reproductive health services. The staff at Planned Parenthood health centers work hard to give you the services you need, whether or not you have insurance. Many charge less for services, depending on your income. When you contact your local health center and make your telehealth appointment, you’ll learn more about specific costs. The staff may be able to help you get care you can afford.

Which services can I get through telehealth?

Telehealth services vary from health center to health center, but you may be able to get services such as birth control, STD testing and or treatment, gender-affirming hormone therapy, PEP, PrEP, and emergency contraception (the morning-after pill). Counseling or education information may also be available.

Can I get an abortion with telehealth?

You may be able to get a medication abortion — the abortion pill — through telehealth. If so, during your telehealth visit, your nurse or doctor will give you all of the information you need to use the abortion pill at home. Then you’ll go to your local health center to pick up the medicines you’ll need. And  — depending on the state you live in — you can usually get a medication abortion up to 11 weeks after the first day of your last period.

Will my telehealth visit be private?

Yes. Just like when you visit a Planned Parenthood for a health care appointment in person, your telehealth appointment will be private. And make sure to find a quiet, well lit, private space on your end for your telehealth visit.

Can I have my telehealth visit in Spanish?

We're working to offer Spanish telehealth services across the country. In the meantime, please contact your local health center to see what's available in your area
