"Sex Madness" (1938) Falling Window Blooper (video)

Dwayne Esper's vintage exploitation films were done on very low budgets...
...much too low for needless retakes.

And so, when a window slams shut in the background...

...watch the two actresses keep right on going.

Watch it again and notice how the startled blonde stumbles her line a bit.

"NO RETAKES!"

All The Vampira Scenes In "Plan 9 From Outer Space" (1959) (video)

Vampira (aka Maila Nurmi) was a popular TV horror movie hostess in the 50s.

Filmmaker Ed Wood persuaded her to appear in his magnum opus, "Plan 9 From Outer Space."

She plays "Vampire Girl", an undead woman resurrected by space aliens.

Also in the cast are Swedish wrestler Tor Johnson...
...and a stand-in for the late Bela Lugosi.

The film didn't do much for Vampira's career at the time.

But bad movie fans would rediscover it decades later...
...and elevate it to the status of a revered classic.

Which Looks Dumber: "THE GIANT CLAW" or "REPTILICUS"? (video)

Two of the silliest-looking creations in horror movie history...

...are the jerky marionette monsters of "The Giant Claw" (1957) and "Reptilicus" (1961).

But which looks dumber? You decide from the trailers...

Elmer Bernstein's Early Sci-Fi/Horror Themes: "Robot Monster" and "Cat Women of the Moon" (1953) (video)

Before scoring such classics as THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, THE GREAT ESCAPE, and THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN...

...Elmer Bernstein supplied the music for the notorious ROBOT MONSTER and CAT-WOMEN OF THE MOON.

All The Swamp Creature Scenes From "Curse of the Swamp Creature" (1966) (video)

 Texas-based producer-director Larry Buchanan made several low-budget 16mm remakes...

... of American-International horror films for television in the 60s.

Although this project from Buchanan's "Azalea Pictures" was an original and not a remake...*

*(some say that it is a remake of 1957's "Voodoo Woman")

...it shares the same rock-bottom production values as his other films.

It definitely wasn't the finest hour for stars John Agar and Francine York.

But despite being consistently sub-par, it is still celebrated by bad-movie fans.

All The Monster Scenes From "The Beach Girls And The Monster" (1965) (video)

Actor Jon Hall ("The Invisible Man's Revenge", "The Hurricane")…

...directed and starred in this low-budget horror/beach film.

The monster costume is decidedly unconvincing, even when compared to "The Horror of Party Beach" (1964).

The musical score is rather good...
...including a main titles song co-written by Frank Sinatra, Jr.

Sue Casey plays Hall's sexually-unfulfilled wife Vicky.

The film is listed in The Official Razzie Movie Guide...
...as one of "The 100 Most Enjoyably Bad Movies Ever Made."

(STOP reading now if you don't want the main plot twist spoiled.)

That's right...the film has a "Scooby-Doo" ending.
It turns out director-star Jon Hall was the monster all along.

Goofiest-Looking Alien Monster Ever? "Robot Monster" (1953) (video)

Indy filmmaker Phil Tucker didn't have much money to spend on special effects.

So he put a space helmet on a gorilla suit and called it "Robot Monster."

It was a valiant effort.

Ro-Man was played by ape-suit actor George Barrows.

The music was composed by Elmer Bernstein.

The film was shot in four days, in 3D, for approx. $16,000.

It grossed a million dollars in its initial release.

It has since become one of the most popular "bad movies" of all time.

All The Narration: "Beast Of Yucca Flats" (1961) (video)

"Flag on the moon.  How did it get there?"

Easily the most noteworthy thing about this eccentric low-budget film...

...is its bizarre narration.

Monotone, redundant, and at times downright disorienting.

Cheapest Movie Set Ever? Cockpit Scene From "Plan 9 From Outer Space" (1959) (video)

In Tim Burton's "Ed Wood" (1994), the actor hired to play an airline pilot is dismayed by the sparse cockpit set.

In the actual film "Plan 9 From Outer Space", we find this to be no exaggeration.

Gregory Walcott (right) and co-pilot are sitting on chairs in front of a blank wall.

There appears to be a shower curtain hanging over the doorway.

Not sure what that is they're "steering" with.

Listen to those chairs creak.

It's an impressionistic set, to say the least.

Walcott, bless his heart, went on to have a fairly successful acting career.
