The Latin American country that has been affected the most by the COVID-19 coronavirus disease is Brazil. As of April 30 2020, the country has reported more than 79 thousand cases. It was followed by Peru, with 33,931 confirmed cases of COVID-19. In total, the region has registered more than 201 thousand infected patients, as well as a growing number of fatal COVID-19 cases.
In order to combat the spread of the COVID-19 disease, most Latin American countries have adopted measures to improve governmental capacity. In addition, in order to prevent further spread, preventive measures have also been settled. For example, most countries have canceled massive events, as well as school and university classes.
