President Dana White has insisted that his company will be the first to return to the sports calendar.

White had been adamant that the event would take place on April 18, and he asserted Thursday that he was still intent on staging events on a private island.

As most other sports competitions face cancellations and postponements, UFC is moving forward with its next pay-per-view, which will feature Justin Gaethje, replacing lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, against Tony Ferguson.

The UFC's lightweight champion says he will remain in quarantine in Russia, leaving the event, for which company president Dana White has yet to announce a site, in further turmoil.

"I accept full responsibility for my actions and I know that I have some personal work to do which involves the unhealthy relationship I have with alcohol," Jones said in a statement.

"It was a very, very, very bad out of taste joke," Billy Joe Saunders, who may have jeopardized a shot at a lucrative title bout against Canelo Alvarez, said while apologizing for a video he posted.
