She received her educatioji at LivingstonCollege and Scotia Seminary in her home State and was a tea-cher forseveral years before coming to Chicago to enter her chosen field as atrained social service worker. She served very efficiently as Superniten-dent of the Phyllis Wheatley Home for five years. Miss Lawrence was a very earnest club worker fori a number of yearsuntil her health failed her in 1920. She has taken an active part in alllocal and political affairs, is a member of the Peoples Movement Club,has recently been appointed as delegate from the Phyllis Wheatley Club tothe League of Cook County Clubs for 1922-23 and is at present employedby the Sonthside Property Owners Association. t/iicu li^e

On June 27,1895 she married Ferchnand LeeBarnett.. For the last 30 years, Mrs.Barnette has been an editor, lecturer,and soei 1 service worker. FANNIE MASON Mrs. Fannie Mason is another of thepioneer workers in Womans clubdom.She is an ardent religious, civic andclub worker and is now the president ofone of the largest political organizationsin the city.
