Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies was fined €20k by his coach Niko Kovač after being late for last Tuesday’s practice. The Canadian international was late due to chaos breaking out in Munich’s airport on Tuesday. Davies, who took the flight home back from Paris, was supposed to land before the 11:00 AM practice but instead arrived at Säbener Strasse at 3:00 PM. This was because a passenger went through a close emergency exit door and paralyzed the terminal.

Davies, who was allowed to go to Paris on Monday, flew to the French capital to meet up with his girlfriend Jordyn Huitema. Huitema is also a football player who recently made the move to powerhouse Paris St. Germain. The couple has made headlines back in Canada since November 2018 and is often referred to as the new power soccer couple.

Despite Kovač’s alleged anger at the situation, he decided to give Davies some playing time against Mainz 05. Davies repaid his manager’s trust by scoring the last goal of the game in the 80th minute.
