KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Johnson County reported four new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday morning, bringing the total cases there to 16.

Information on the new patients was not provided by the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment.

Earlier this week, Johnson County officials said that new cases indicate the virus is spreading locally and not coming from outside locations.

Johnson County Health Officer Dr. Joseph LeMaster has ordered a 10-person limit to public gatherings, and Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly said Tuesday that all school districts must close their buildings through the end of the academic year.

On Thursday morning, Johnson County had the highest tally in Kansas with 16, followed by Wyandotte County with seven.
