BANGOR – Experience Maine recently opened its own online store, featuring Maine artists and small businesses.
The new website is called Experience Maine Made.
They recently announced that 20 percent of all sales from the store in May will go to the Maine Tourism Relief Fund.
That fund was organized by the Maine Tourism Association and Poland Spring, and is aimed towards hospitality businesses with less than 50 employees.
One of the main items in the store is the Maine Treasure Box.
An Experience Maine owner said people can enjoy some of the best things about the state while travel is not possible.
“As soon as all this happened with COVID-19, I started thinking, ‘How can I pivot a bit on my business and also give back to other tourism-related industry small businesses?'” said Rachel Sagiroglu, founder of Experience Maine. “Because as a small business in the travel industry, it’s really tough right now.”
