Candidate for Virginia's 5th Congressional District
For me, this journey began with the realization that my business experience, service as an elected official, and my leadership training as a Marine officer are the right set of qualifications for the moment. My mind told me that my experience, electability, and leadership are needed in order that Virginia’s 5th District may have a qualified representative ready to hit the ground running with both compassion and command to address the wide array of challenges we are facing as a district, as a Commonwealth and as a country.
So much has happened in these last few months and I am driven now more than ever from the feeling in my heart. This is a tipping point in the American journey that calls for our best. History teaches us that we will emerge from the COVID-19 health and economic crisis in due time but what we choose to learn from it will define our country and democracy for years to come.
I believe the post-pandemic era will offer a unique opportunity to fix the many shortcomings we have identified as a nation but have not had the courage or political will to tackle. Healthcare, the climate crisis, and infrastructure investment (including solving the rural broadband challenge) are at the top of the list. They are all interrelated, like three overlapping circles.
Safely restarting the economy will be first and foremost in addressing all three issues. But as we rebuild and reshape America, we must ensure that new and bold measures provide equal opportunity and justice.
Much hard work lies before us and we must have the right people in positions of leadership to guide our country into our next chapter. I know in my mind and my heart that I am the right person for the 5th District and our nation.

Virginia's 5th Congressional District
Virginia's 5th Congressional District is located in the central portion and stretches vertically across the state. The district includes the following counties: Albemarle, Appomattox, Brunswick, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Fluvanna, Franklin, Greene, Halifax, Lunenburg, Madison, Mecklenburg, Nelson, Pittsylvania, Prince Edward, and Rappahannock. In addition, it includes portions of Bedford, Fauquier, and Henry counties along with all of Charlottesville city.
