Maran Gas Maritime Inc. (“MGM”) is the Gas Shipping unit of the Angelicoussis Shipping Group (“ASGL”). MGM was set up in July 2003 to manage the LNG and LPG carriers of ASGL.
ASGL has a well established track record in shipping dating back to 1947. ASGL's fleet now comprises bulk carriers, tankers, LNG vessels and LPG vessels. Today it employs a staff of approximately 300 shoreside professionals as well as over 3,700 officers and crew.

ASGL History
- Antonis Angelicoussis founded the business in 1947
- The first ocean-going dry-cargo vessel acquired in 1953
- In 1966 the order for a Panamax (63,000 dwt) vessel was placed with IHI in Japan
- Between 1966 and 1984, 38 more ships were ordered in IHI
- In 1986, the fleet had grown to 40 Bulk carriers and 2 Tankers
- In 1989, Antonis Angelicoussis passed away and the management of the company was taken over by his children. John Angelicoussis became President and Chief executive officer
- In 1992 Kristen Navigation Inc. was founded as a separate management company to undertake the operation of the Tanker fleet. Five steam VLCCs were purchased in late 1992 and 1993
- In 1994 the first tanker newbuild order was placed with DSME for 2 Aframax Tankers and 1 option
