Dunn raring to return from injury
David Dunn
Birmingham midfielder David Dunn is adamant he will be ready to make his long-awaited return from injury against local rivals Aston Villa on 16 October.

The 25-year-old has been sidelined for 10 months by a back problem.

Dunn told the News of the World: "I can see the light again now so fingers crossed I will be ready for Villa.

"I am dreaming about it. I know that sounds a little bit corny but I do actually dream about playing again. It is a great thing for me."

Dunn, who joined the Blues from Blackburn for £5.5m in July 2003, will aim to prove his fitness in City's reserve match against Everton on Tuesday.

He is keen to put his long lay-off behind him, and even hopes he might win a place in the England squad for next year's World Cup finals.

"I am on my feet again," Dunn added. "I have broad shoulders and I like to think I am mentally strong after what I have been through.

"History shows there are always one or two players who sneak in through the back door, so you never know about the World Cup.

"But at the moment I am just thinking about playing for Birmingham and hopefully getting back into the starting 11."
