Denny Hamlin and crew chief Chris Gabehart continue showcasing championship form

When Denny Hamlin and crew chief Chris Gabehart got together over the offseason to lay out their 2020 goals, they set a target on the number of races they wanted to win. Coming off a successful first year paired together that saw them nearly win the NASCAR Cup Series championship, they wanted to raise their expectations.

How many wins did they target? Hamlin was intentionally vague when asked late Thursday night after winning at Kansas Speedway. Initially, Gabehart was tight-lipped too, before finally revealing the lofty goals the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing team set for itself.

“The goal was to win all 36 (races), so we’ve already fallen short of that,” Gabehart said. “I just think that much of this race team and Denny Hamlin, all the resources we have behind us. There’s not a single race that I go to that I think we can’t win.”
