Hello again,
When Clyde won the Scottish Cup in 1939 our Chairman was John McMahon. I have an newspaper article detailing that John McMahon was 80 when we next won the Cup in 1955, meaning he was born around 1875.
I note on John Litster pre-war disks that Clyde signed one John McMahon from Port Glasgow Athletic on 13/10/1899, who then went to Preston North End on the 12th of November 1900.
Can anyone confirm (or otherwise) that this is one and the same person? Basic arithmetic indicates he would have been 25 around the turn of the century, so it is entirely feasible he could have been one and the same.
Also, final question, was it John McMahon (the Clyde Chairman) who donated the League Cup trophy to the SFA (or SFL), and is this still the trophy played for today?
Many thanks again.

Re: John McMahon of Clyde
It WAS John McMahon of Clyde who donated the present League Cup trophy. Whether he was the same person as the player I don't know.

Re: John McMahon of Clyde
Since my original post I've heard back from the PNE former players' website, and they tell me that John McMahon the player died in 1933, so that would appear to settle the issue as to whether or not they are one and the same person.
Thanks for the other confirmation.
Cheers
