Disgruntled Formula One fans who missed out on seeing the action at Indianapolis may finally have something to smile about after the Champ Car World Series announced that it will honour tickets purchased for the US Grand Prix at the latest round of the Champ Car season in Cleveland this coming weekend.

Many fans left Indianpolis when the 14 Michelin-shod cars failed to complete their warm-up lap leaving a six car grid for the Formula One race, with large numbers requesting their money back.

However those who have retained their tickets rather than throwing it away in disgust will be able to exchange it for a ticket to the see the Champ Cars in action next Sunday on the temporary circuit at Burke Lakefront Airport.

"We want to encourage all the open wheel fans in the mid-west who didn't get to see a race at Indianapolis to come to Cleveland," Steve Shunck, director of public relations for Champ Car told SPEEDTV.com. "The USGP ticket will be honoured for our race in Cleveland on race day.

"Fans can see former Formula One drivers like Cristiano da Matta, Justin Wilson and Timo Glock in action as well as champions like Jimmy Vasser, Paul Tracy and Sebastien Bourdais."

Details will follow on www.grandprixofcleveland.com and www.champcar.ws explaining how fans can redeem their F1 USGP tickets for race-day seats at the Champ Car Grand Prix of Cleveland on Sunday 26 June.
