We just had our Christmas Eve dinner here and were so impressed. The restaurant is charmingly old world and comfortable with just the right amount of lightning. We were warmly greeted and seated quickly. All our food was perfect and my shrimp cocktail was scrumptious. The bread was fresh and hot - served with aged balsamic vinegar and olive oil. My husband and I both had the prime rib which was delectable and roasted to a glorious medium rare. The mashed potatoes were the best we have ever had, and the vegetables were fresh and not cooked to death. They also do a huge pour on the wine with reasonable prices and good selection. The deserts are divine - again with great selection, size (too big) and quality. Our server had such a gentle and friendly disposition. She paid great attention to us without being overbearing. We so enjoyed being invited to roam all the beautiful historic buildings, and the bartender was kind enough to share his stories about the resident ghost. This was one of our most memorable Christmas Evesand we will return to Relics.

God bless the owner, and the cool history, but this place needs to hang its hat.
Extremely dusty drapery and area rug, made me feel like I was inhaling the bag of a dust buster. I was tempted to pull out a brown lunch bag and start breathing exercises! Not to mention feeling like you're on top of each other inside a tiny living room dining with random people you can hear every conversation.
The service was as if we were in a twilight zone. Have you ever seen that movie "The Hills have eyes?" ---Pretty much. Our server was so terrible I can't even put into vocabulary how bad, and the over animated character of the other server made me feel like I was truly in that movie!
My wine was stale, the vegetables weren't cooked, and literally every table sent their less than quality steak back to be recooked.
If it wasn't for the owner to preserve the last decency of service, we wouldn't have even left the insulting 5% gratuity. -

After reading the previous reviews we were questioning our decision to try this resto. DO NOT do that!! We arrived on a cold night w snow on the ground we decided to have dinner at the bar. Bartender Jane was great! She brought us s taste of the soup of the day which was very nice but we were not interested in soup. I had the filet w veggies and potatoes, she had the mussels. We loved everything about the food and service and look forward to returning. The filet was as good as can be. As good as The Palm or Capital Grill, really!! Mussels also wonderful with a red broth that was spicy and wonderful with the bread that they baked while we waited. Take your cocktails and tour the place it is fascinating and the food was wonderful!!!

1 check-inRecommended by our concierge after failing at getting seats at two other restaurants. The service was great and our waitress made sure we had everything we needed.
They give you a complimentary bread basket if requested, as said on the menu.
Tilapia and Prawn Napoleon (served with a lemon beurre blanc sauce, layered with mashed potatoes) - The tilapia was super buttery and soft, as was the creamy mashed potatoes. Perfect comfort food for a cold night in Sedona.
Slow Roasted Prime Rib - Dad and bro both enjoyed it. I didn't try it, but it looked really juicy. The baked potato fries were crispy on the outside and potatoey on the inside. I think they bake it and then fry it. Get those as your side.
Rainbow Trout Almondine (sliced almonds, orange liquor, seasonal vegetables, rice pilaf) - On the dryer side and has less fishy taste. Nice crunch from the almonds. Pilaf was good.
Berry Crostata Tart with ice cream - Warm delicious, flaky pastry with an apple and berry mixture. Expensive at $7.50, but I think it's worth it if you're a dessert person.
Chocolate Lava Cake - Not as good as the Berry Crostata, but moist and chocolatey. Also $7.50.
Food is expensive but delicious and in large quantities. Service was wonderful. We felt very welcome. The interior looks like the inside of a log cabin. The walls are lined with relics from the old West. -

1 check-inI want to give this place more stars but I just can't. I tried to make reservations via Open Table but it wasn't working so I called the restaurant. The owner, Joe, took my reservation for 730. He later called to say the latest reservation he would take was 630. I said that was fine it would just end our ski time in the snow bowl early. Open table nor when I called said the restaurant would have a limited menu. Unfortunately this restaurant was not worth the hour drive for us. Once we arrived 2 walk in tables were sat before us and then with us he somehow didn't have our reservation that I had just made on Monday! The owner proceeded to say "just give me a moment and let me see where I'm going to put you." Not something you want to hear about your Christmas dinner. Mind you, I was told today was reservation only. There were multiple walk ins taken. Once sat, took almost 20 minutes to get a server, Liz, very rude. They were nearly out of everything on the already limited menu. When I asked what was being substituted for the mashed potatoes since they were out, she snapped back NOTHING, then saw my facial expression and then said "actually let me go check with the kitchen." The server came back and said they would sub baked potato fries. I asked baked potato or French fries? She barked back NO baked potatoes that are too old to use so they slice them and flash fry them and serve them as fries. Again not something you say to a table!!! We got our food and although not what we came to the restaurant for, was still good. More than halfway through our meals the server finally comes over to ask how everything is. Needless to say she didn't refill my brothers soda, I had to ask the bartender to do so. Another disappointing factor was the table behind us got 10% off their meal because the restaurant was out of the dishes they wanted but we didn't get 10%... weird. The bread you are served throughout the meal is amazing though and the bus boy was so good! Tipped him in cash after the meal! Our waters were always filled by him!

Dinner 06/27/2015:
Dinner was delicious! Shrimp Cocktail, Seasonal Puree of Summer Vegetables (Soup du Jour), Tilapia & Prawn Napoleon and cheesecake for dessert. My Mom and I shared -and enjoyed- it all!!! The service was great and many thanks to Rachel, the Manager, for all of the historical information and quick tour. We'll definitely be back :) -

1 check-inWe had a lovely dinner at Relics. We had no clue about the history of the place, but the informative take-home history brochure enlightened us! It is so cool that 'The Rounders' was filmed here and that John Wayne and Joan Crawford used to drink at the bar! The food was excellent and the service was even better. We had Marie as our waitress and she was extremely pleasant, very sweet, and did a great job serving us and taking care of us! The decor was really opulent and reminiscent of the Old West. After we had our Prime Rib and cheesecake, we took a tour of the place, and we were really impressed! If you have a chance to go out for a nice dinner in Sedona, we highly recommend Relics!

Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a very unfriendly gentleman. Although we made reservations on open table, he said we should have made our reservations earlier and went on and on about how he couldn't help us. He even came outside as we were leaving to give us more excuses. This place has a lot to learn about customer service. It did cross my mind later that they didn't want to serve Asians in their restaurant. After just reading some of the other reviews, it might be true.

We had an hour before our reservation so we went into the Roadhouse side for drinks. The bartender was awesome and very knowledgeable about the town as well as the establishment and we had a great time. That's the only reason I would give 3 stars.
Actually everything we experienced was worthy of 5 stars except the steaks.....
I ordered the New York strip and my wife ordered the fillet, hers medium well and mine medium. Both steaks were burned hers worse than mine. We NEVER send food back due to horror stories we just decide we won't be back if it's bad but this time we decided to send her fillet back because it was virtually a lump of charcoal and inedible. I shared my steak with her and we ate our sides which were great. Eventually they brought out another entire meal including the sides and yet again her steak was burned.
I'm sure it was an off night for the normal cook because this place is highly recommended and the prime rib look fantastic but we won't be coming back! -

Relics is a charming little roadhouse that just makes you feel like stopping, the outside of it is so charming.
The inside is full of antiques, where the atmosphere is cozy and a bit more formal.
We ordered a shrimp cocktail to share, which came with 6 perfectly cooked, chilled shrimp (we have normally gotten 4 in other places for the same price).
Our server was friendly, pleasant and efficient, and our service was snap on.
We split a yummy New York Strip, wonderfully flavorful but just a smidgen over the medium rate that we ordered.
We would come back, it looks like their special offering is prime rib.
There is much to see in Relics beyond the main dining room, and the cheery stag will give you the lore and tour of the rooms that lay beyond.
If you're looking for something unique, Relics is it! -

I had eaten at Relic 4 years ago when I'd last visited Sedona and thoroughly enjoyed the place. When it came time to plan our wedding reception, we wanted someplace fun with good food. Relic was the first place to come to mind. The fact that patio is pet friendly made it a no brainer.
Weddings never run according to schedule and we were an hour late for our reservation. Joe, the owner, was more than accommodating. Jane our server could not have been kinder- she and her partner in service, took amazing care of us. The Crusted Salmon with Scallop Potatoes is beyond delicious, steaks were fabulous and the best part was the cheese cake the chef made for us because it's my husband's favorite. It was ricotta cheese cake and if you have the opportunity to try it, it's worth the million calories!
After gorging ourselves over dinner, we played pool and just hung out. It was exactly what I'd hoped for. Thank you everyone at Relic for an evening to remember. -

We had our wedding reception in the Gibson room, August 1, 2015. The food was delicious, The wait staff couldn't have been nicer, Joe made sure everything went smoothly for us. I have to admit I don't consider myself needy. I just wanted a nice place with a great meal for our family of 35 people. From start with salad and good hot bread, to wonderful prim rib and halibut to the ladies cutting and serving the most delicious cake everything was perfect. Our guests enjoyed themselves and thats what made me the happiest. Thank you Joe and Relics staff, Job well done

History
Established in 1946.
Relics is located at Rainbows End, which is a Sedona Historic Landmark Attraction, in the beautiful Red Rocks of Sedona. It is the town's oldest continuously operating restaurant. The Gibson old stone-and-wood house and now our "Gibson" Room was built in the early 1900s by the Gibson family on the last homestead available in Sedona, which they "claimed" - 160 acres.
The Gibson house was turned into an eating establishment called Rainbows End when Ray Lawson and his wife purchased the property in the 1940s and it quickly became famous for their fried chicken. Ray was inspired by "a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow." The "Gibson" Room seats 50 for dinner. The "Sunset" Room, which was originally the front porch of the Gibson House, was used historically as the entrance to the restaurant, waiting room and Host Station. ...

Meet the Business Owner
In 2003-2006 the current owners Joe DeSalvo & Karen DeSalvo started a meticulous restoration of the entire facility one room at a time over a four-year period while remaining "open" for business every day throughout the process. The restoration included exposing the original stone exterior walls and original wood flooring, which had been covered for sixty years as well as stripping and refinishing all of the original woodwork throughout the facility. The original materials and fixtures were utilized wherever possible. Relics continues to operate with its Old West charm and character under their warm care of Joe and Karen.
