The 'High Art of Sport' is a part of the large-scale project named 'European Games – European Art'. The project also hosts the 'Kazimir Malevich and the 21st century' exhibition featuring Belarusian talents who follow in the footsteps of the famous artist.

The exhibition will feature works of photographers and artists from 11 countries: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, UK, Germany, Georgia, Spain, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, and Slovakia.

Residents and guests of Minsk are invited to attend a grand exhibition of archive and contemporary photographs, posters, videos, sculptures, and documents that captured performances exploring the theme of sport in a broad cultural, historical and social context.

The exhibition will start with archive photographs and film materials from the collection of the Belarusian State Archive of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings. The collection demonstrates the peculiarities of the Soviet culture that was fascinated with the fit body (1940-1970s). Photos and film shots of competitions, USSR Spartakiads, athletes' parades, training and portraits of outstanding athletes of those years are the evidence of an era when the cult of a healthy and strong body was associated with the youth and strength of the country. It was the time when the mass interest in sports was part of the global education process called the formation of the "man of the future".

The exhibition will be open until 4 August 2019.
