I have very low knowledge about the topic revenge and would like sangat
to help me understand more about it.

I read that revenge is wrong in Sikhi
as Guru Gobind Singh Ji said himself
That the sword should never be picked up
In spirit of revenge. I am curious to know
If the assassination of Indra Gandhi was
an act of revenge.

I wondered about that myself. Suggesting that her killing was an act of vengeance would mean that the two Singhs that ended her life are not shaheedi. In light of that I came to the personal conclusion that those brave Singhs acted to prevent her from further acts of violence. This is my personal conclusion so if anyone disagrees know that no offense was intended.

I have always wondered this as a child. I believe that we should hold the Guru's words as True, and never commit atrocities against other people. However, the assassination of Indra Gandhi was brought on because of the 1984 attacks, so the Sikhs were just trying to stand up to the oppression. It doesn't exactly mean that what they did was completely correct, but humans are inevitably flawed, and those two Sikhs did what they thought was correct and good for the Sikh religion.

I know this is a very ambiguous answer. In short, I cannot decide whether it was justified or not, but I can say that those two Sikhs did it with the love for the Sikh religion in their hearts.

I agree, I also believe they did this to prevent further acts of violence.

It was an attack on the holiest of holies. A place dear to sikhs. It has been attacked many times in the Sikh history. As kids we are brought up with past stories.
It was a Sikh holy day and ordinary people were visiting. In the cross fire many died. How different was is from Jaliawalla Bagh? Was killing of O'Dwyer by Udham Singh an act of revenge? It was by young man traumatised by an event.
In my humble opinion the two individuals were traumatised by the whole thing. I know I was to some extent. Kept on thinking about dirty boots stamping over the soul of Harmandir with people caught in cross fire fleeing this way that way. It was also revenge by persons traumatised by the event.
What followed was something more than revenge. People of subcontinent have no sense of the rule of law. They are all barbarians. You look at the news now. They lynch persons instead of taking them to the police. Look at what is happening at the border. Pakistanis behead Indian soldiers and vice versa for revenge. Politicians beat their chests about it. Read Babar Bani again and reflect. Compare this mindset with ISIS. What is the difference?
We desis residing in the west also have the same tendency. Made from the same mould.
