My 7 year old loves his new scooter. I love that the wheels are fairly large. He's had a much easier time riding this scooter than the small wheeled scooters. We also bought the Razor A5 Lux and just for anyone comparing the two, the Lux is a bit larger and has much larger wheels. The deck on the Lux easily lets you keep both feet on the razor, while I don't think you could do that on the Cruiser. We bought the Lux for our 10 year old and it is fantastic. Both scooters feel and look well made, the Lux is definitely better for bigger kids and even adults, the Cruiser would work for big kids too, but not really for an adult.

Updated September 2018 with the following: First scooter is holding up decently and I bought a second of the exact same model for my younger son. The first it kept outside under a deck, so it's somewhat weather protected, but still exposed to the environment. The chrome plating is being taken over by rust in numerous areas but this hasn't taken away from usability. The wood deck is holding up well and although the grip tape decal is still in place, the edges are slightly curling up here and there. I don't want to fault Razor too much for this since it's my choice to store them outside where it's quick and easy for the kids to grab them, vs. a better protected indoor location.

About the right size for our 6 year old, who graduated from a Micro 3-wheeled scooter. But the adjustable height handlebar makes this workable for our 4 year old, too.

I'm a big fan of the wooden deck just for aesthetics. You know kids can be hard on their gear, and this scooter gets laid down a lot. The wood so far has held up, and looks better than scratched up metal. It stands out nicely against the polished metal, and is fairly sturdy, even under adult weight (though I wouldn't recommend it for an adult).

I also like the larger wheels on this version -- they're less affected by uneven or cracked pavement and driveway lips, although they can still be stopped short without much of an obstruction.

The heel brake is pretty decent. Many scooters use nothing more than a flexible piece of metal or plastic; this model features a pin hinge and a return spring. It's probably more susceptible to something breaking -- just a wild supposition -- but it's a nice touch.

Lastly, the value seemed fair compared to a lot of the other similar-sized scooters I looked at. It's money well spent if we can get a few years out of it.

This scooter is excellent. It's incredibly lightweight and can be easily carried onto a bus. The folding mechanism is very strong and well built. The hull colors are a little misleading in the picture. The hull is made of wood and the colors are a little flashy (bright yellow and orange.) Overtime if you don't clean the hall then the colors will dull because there's dirt on the scooter.

The wood hull is still good and it's a very stable and strong scooter.

This is a beautiful scooter--old fashioned California surf vibe, sturdy deck, and smooth riding. I bought this for my daughter, who is 5' 2", and the handlebars--fully extended--come up to about her waist. The photos are deceiving. She will use it throughout this school year, but we will have to look for one that has taller handlebars for next year.

I got tis for my 6 year old for Christmas.

I couldn't decide between the Cruiser and the regular razor and I had a hard time understanding the price difference from browsing online. I really like the wider, wooden board. My daughter likes that it is pink. With the spring-like weather this Christmas, she was eager to try it out. We went out on a half mile ride the first time out and she wanted to go out every day until our holiday vacation ended. That is all the review you really need, isn't it?

She also got from an auntie the Razor protective gear, which is great.

Good - not great - scooter

I recently got this scooter for my 4 year old son. He's big for his age (45" and 45lbs) and this fits him well. I appreciate the extra width on the footbed and it's long enough for him, though I'm not sure how adults could possibly fit 2 feet on there in terms of length! I also really like the sandpaper surface of the wood, which really keeps him from slipping. The brake also works pretty well, and my son was able to figure it out quickly. The folding mechanism is a little stiff, but I'm hoping it loosens up over time. The scooter looks really cool - my son loves it - though I think the wood may scuff more easily than metal. It's a bit heavier than I'd expected, but not too bad to lug around with us into stores or on the subway.

My only real complaint is that the ride just isn't that smooth. My son was riding it in the house when he first got it and it seemed great, but we have pretty bumpy sidewalks near us, and he finally got off on a long easy downhill slope (which he usually loves to ride down) and walked because it was so jarring. He had a minikick scooter before, and the ride on that scooter is so much smoother and more stable. I wish I could get this scooter with Kick scooter wheels, but I haven't seen any non-Razor brand wheels that would fit this one, unfortunately.

Still, this is a sturdy, nice-looking scooter, and has good stability for a 2 wheel. Lots of kids near us have the basic Razor, and I think the cruiser is definitely more stable and a better buy. If Razor would just improve the wheel quality, it would be perfect for us!

I wanted a good scooter to ride for pleasure and one that could take from place A to place B smoothly. I'm 25 years old and I live in Montreal, you have never seen a city with streets worst than ours REALLY. So I can assure you that the Razor cruiser scooter is great for the city. It offers me a smooth ride and is a wonderful ride for adults. I read comments about the handle being too short and it's true I'm 5,4'' so it's perfect for me but anyone higher than 5,6'' might find it too short.

The only annoying thing I found was that the rear break makes a loud rattling sound on rough roads....

Overall it's a really great scooter, great quality and sturdy for it's price. A great buy.

I'm a 5'2" adult rider. The product is sturdy enough for my 130 lbs. weight. It has a 5.5" diameter wheels which rides smoothly and can manage the slight bumps of the road. My only issue with the scooter is the handle bars' height. The product description indicates that the maximum height is 35" - it's actually an inch shorter. I had an old scooter with a handle bar height of 36" which was perfect for me. Otherwise, I'd definitely recommend this scooter for both kids & adults.
