The British Embassy in Nepal maintains and develops relations between the UK and Nepal.

Our work covers a range of issues including representing the British government in its relations with the Nepalese government and the people of Nepal.

We develop Britain’s relationship with Nepal as part of the British government’s wider role overseas of working for British interests, including those of individual British citizens and organisations.

Get an emergency travel document

You can apply for an emergency travel document if you’re abroad and your passport has been lost or stolen, damaged or expired, and you can’t get a new or replacement passport in time to travel.

If the person needing the emergency travel document is under 16, a parent or guardian should apply on their behalf.

If you are travelling in more than 3 weeks, check if you can get a new or replacement passport in time to travel.

Development work in Nepal

Nepal has the potential for higher, inclusive economic growth through the development of hydro-electric power and through sectors like agro-processing, light manufacturing and tourism, which present significant opportunities for UK business, and trade with India and China. This potential is hampered by complex investment rules and processes, costly and unreliable energy supply, poor transport infrastructure, political instability, weak institutions, poor governance and gender disparity.
