Chitrangada Story: Chitrangada or Chitra is suddenly attracted towards women, sexually. Being a psychology professor herself, Chitra is stunned and clueless about the phenomenon and also faces complaints from staff and students about her changed behavior. Chitra sets off to the US in order to unravel the mystery behind her dreams and sudden change in behavior.

    Chitrangada Review:
Chitrangada continues the trend of comedy-driven horror films in Tollywood. And yet again, it is one of those 'based on a true story' films. However, despite being armed with a good story, director Ashok G fails to capitalise it fully.

Chitrangada (Anjali) is a psychology professor with a dark past. Her life takes a spooky turn when disturbing dreams, visions and behavioral changes, especially a hitherto unfelt sexual attraction towards women, start haunting her all of a sudden. The professor, who wonders what is happening to her, tries to get help in various ways but people only end up ridiculing her. That's when she decides to travel to the US in search of help. The film is about how she tackles the issue.

Anjali keeps you entertained throughout the movie with her 'possessed' act. There are lots of spooky elements in the first half. Though comedy wasn't really necessary to the plot, its inclusion has not hampered the narration or pacing. Saptagiri and Sudigali Sudheer give some good performances, and the background score by Selva Ganesh is decent.

The film, which was wrapped up in 2015 got postponed numerous times, and this time lag between its completion and release does stand out like a sore thumb. The film begins with a flashback episode followed by an intro song for Anjali, but that does not lead into the narration seamlessly thereafter. There are also a few loose characterizations, for example like those of Swati Dixit, Sakhsi Gulati and Raja Ravindra. Anjali's costumes and styling also aren't in sync with the character variations she presents. But the most annoying faux pas of them all would be the fact that the dialogues aren’t lip-synced well in many, many scenes. The film is only 2 hours and 25 minutes long, however, it seems like a much longer ordeal.
For those who are fond of horror films though, Chitrangada might be a decent one-time watch. But if a horror isn’t even your thing, then you might as well spare yourself the trouble.
