About BuzzFeed News
Reporting to you.
Started in 2012, BuzzFeed News is a global news organization providing original online reporting and video programming across the internet’s biggest platforms. Our mission is to report to you: We cover what you care about, break big stories that hold major institutions accountable for their actions, and expose injustices that change people's lives — all while averaging over 50 million unique monthly readers.
BuzzFeed News reporting exposed the hidden death toll in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, exploitative content on the big tech platforms, and the secrets of government officials from London to São Paulo. We have also sparked the global conversation around millennial burnout, published candid text conversations with presidential candidates, and steadfastly sued the government for evidence gathered in the Mueller investigation — resulting in the release of thousands of documents that are integral to understanding a major chapter of American history. And BuzzFeed News reporting freed a man from prison, and helped exonerate nine others.
BuzzFeed News has more than 100 journalists across New York, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, San Francisco, London, Berlin, Toronto, Chicago, São Paulo, and Tokyo, and foreign correspondents based in Mexico City, New Delhi, and Ukraine. We focus on reporting breaking news quickly and accurately, and breaking down what the internet is talking about — from new memes to new forms of digital deception — in the language of the internet itself.

Awards
BuzzFeed News is a two-time finalist for the Pulitzer Prize: for a stunning probe that proved operatives with apparent ties to Vladimir Putin have engaged in a targeted killing campaign against his perceived enemies on British and American soil, and an exposé of a dispute-settlement process used by multinational corporations to undermine domestic regulations and gut environmental laws at the expense of poorer nations. BuzzFeed News’ Netflix docuseries “Follow This” was nominated for a News and Documentary Emmy award in 2019.
Our reporting has also won a George Polk Award, National Magazine Award, Livingston Award, Society of Editors Press Award, National Association of Black Journalists Award, National Association of Hispanic Journalists Award, Mirror Award, GLAAD Media Award, London Press Club Award, The Paul Foot Award, Petrobas Journalism Award, Overseas Press Club Award, Digital Publishing Award, Canadian Association of Journalists Award, Investigative Reporters & Editors Award, Otto Brenner Award, Mumbrella Publish Award, Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing Award, Canadian National Magazine Award, Shorty Award, and Religion News Association Award, among many others.
