What a toughie! Some of you will be making your vote after you see the film, while this debate was written before the release of
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver. Without ever seeing the film, we have only this to go off of:

Fantastic Four was not that good
- The sequel features the Silver Surfer
- The TV spots for RotSS, though goofy, have great special effects
The early buzz for
Rise of the Silver Surfer has been negative. Be it the fact that
Galactus is now a cloud or extremely-early
negative reviews, Silver Surfer will not be entering theaters under a curtain of positive hype. Add in the fact that the sequel is
PG while the not-so-good original was PG-13 also hurts. Can it get worse? Yes, the sequel is frighteningly short (just over 90 minutes).
If I had wrote this debate at the beginning of the week I would have immediately gone with
Fantastic Four, since all the reviews before this week suggested the film was shit. There has been a change in momentum, however, with some positive reviews to appear across the net including an official one at
SuperHeroHype. Shh also gave a positive review for
Ghost Rider, so I wouldn’t get too excited just yet.
So which film is better:
Fantastic Four or
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer? Thanks to the recent
shift in reviews, the Silver Surfer himself and improved special effects, I am going to have to predict
Rise of the Silver Surfer. My thoughts might change, however, after I actually see the film.
