Contested Bridgend, AM for the Region of South Wales West since May 6, 1999.

A member of the Economic Development Committee of the Assembly (where he is party spokesman), and of the Audit Committee.
He stood in Bridgend, and came second to Carwyn Jones. But as number one on the Tory regional list for South Wales West he won a top-up seat. Only 28 on election.
In the 1997 General Election he came second to Labour in the Gower with 24% of the vote. Previously held office in the Swansea West Con. Association, and was a member of the Wales Area Conservative Association, and Deputy Chairman of the Welsh Young Conservatives.
Since 1997 he has been party spokesman on the economy in Wales, and regional policy co-ordinator for the South Wales West region. He made frequent public comments on the economy. During the election campaign he was spokesman on Education and the Welsh language.
A Welsh speaker. Worked since 1989 for Lloyds TSB, for which he is still a business development consultant. At the time of election was completing an MBA at the University of Wales, Newport. A Welsh Baptist. Claimed in 1996 to have attended every Eisteddfod for the last 20 years. His hobbies are golf and running: he has raised money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association through 10km fun runs.
