80's games MAME emulation question
« on: February 12, 2014, 04:39:23 pm »
Hi there,

I've searched the board but I cant see a specific answer to my question.

I'm thinking of buying a JXD s7800b specifically for mid to late 80's games emulation.

How well can it play games like Wardner, strider, Ghouls and Ghosts, Slap fight etc?

Will I need to use frameskip or can it run them without it?

Thanks in advance.

All these games should run fluently in 7800. They do at least in older devices with worse specs. You have several options for Arcade games:

- Mame4droid 0.37b5 (Use the Mame4ll romset)

- Mame4droid =.139 (use 0.139 romset that supports more games).

- FInal Burn Alpha core in Retroarch emulator: For final burn alpha emulation. It uses last FBA romset from the FBA from PC version. This is my favoutrite option to play games from most modern boards like CPS3 or PGM.

All of them are free emus in the google play store.

It will run all titles like that with zero frameskip with mame.

It will also run all the following consoles with Zero frameskip 100%

NES, SNES, Sega Master System, Genesis, Neo Geo, Gameboy, Gameboy Colour, Gameboy Advance, PC Engine, Amiga, Nintendo DS and PS1.

N64 is a bit spotty, and other emus for consoles like PSP and dreamcast are hit and miss at the moment.  They may get better or it may turn out that the S7800 just isn't up to it.
