Iowa guard Jordan Bohannon was expected to be a major contributor for the Hawkeyes this season, provided he remained healthy following offseason right hip surgery.
However, after battling through pain in his left hip to appear in 10 games so far, the guard will undergo season-ending surgery.
Bohannon released a statement on Monday evening. He thanked all Hawkeye fans for their support and promised he’ll do everything he can to help the team this year.
“It has been an incredibly difficult last 6-9 months dealing with what I’ve had to go through,” Bohannon said, via Iowa basketball’s Twitter account. “The unwavering support from Hawkeye nation, team, coaches, friends and family has meant the world to me. I’m looking forward to finally being 100% and will be doing everything I can to help this team out from the sidelines the rest of the season.”

The senior guard has been an integral part of this Iowa team over the past few seasons. Bohannon will fight to receive a medical redshirt – which he’s expected to be granted. If received, he would be allowed to play in the 2020-21 season.
Bohannon underwent surgery on his right hip back in May for a similar issue. A full recovery on the right hip has since been made.
If everything goes according to plan, Bohannon will suit up for the Hawkeyes in the 2020-21 season. The surgery is scheduled to take place this Thursday at the University of Iowa hospital.
