'Borat 2' Debuts in Nielsen's Streaming Top 10

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm drew some very niiice viewership for its opening weekend.

Sacha Baron Cohen's surprise sequel to his 2006 satire ranks eighth in Nielsen's streaming rankings for the week of Oct. 19. The movie, released Oct. 23 on Amazon's Prime Video platform, racked up 570 million minutes of viewing in the United States — the equivalent of about 5.9 million plays of the 96-minute film.

Borat is the second Amazon original to make the Nielsen streaming rankings; the streamer's series The Boys made the top 10 for six consecutive weeks during its second season in September and early October. It's also only the third program from a streamer other than Netflix to make the rankings since Nielsen started releasing weekly numbers in August. The Disney+ release of Mulan ranked 10th for its first weekend in early September.

Schitt's Creek reclaimed the top spot in the rankings after slipping to No. 2 the previous week. Netflix users watched 1.06 billion minutes of the show. The Haunting of Bly Manor slipped from first to third, with 838 million minutes viewed. Netflix's Unsolved Mysteries (789 million minutes) and The Queen's Gambit (551 million) also made the top 10 in their first weeks

Streaming platforms contend Nielsen's methodology doesn't capture the full scope of viewing on devices other than TV sets. Nielsen also only measures U.S. audiences, not those in other countries.
