Curry Breaks Record for Most 3-Pointers (28) in an NBA Finals Series

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry enters Sunday's Game 7 of the NBA Finals having already set a record for the most three-pointers made (28) in a single Finals series, per NBA.com/Stats.

The old mark of 27 was held by San Antonio Spurs shooting guard Danny Green, who memorably caught fire from distance in Games 1-5 of the 2013 Finals against the Miami Heat, helping his team take a 3-2 lead in a series it would ultimately drop in seven games.

Also facing a LeBron James-led squad, Curry has been a bit more consistent from three-point range than Green. He's made at least three shots from beyond the arc in each of the series' first six games, with a three-point percentage of .333 or better in each contest.

Still, the back-to-back reigning MVP hasn't played up to his lofty standards during the ongoing series, averaging 23.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 0.8 steals and 4.3 turnovers per game—compared to 30.1 points, 5.4 boards, 6.7 assists, 2.1 steals and 3.3 turnovers during the regular season.

Already the owner of numerous NBA records for distance shooting, Curry passed Jason Kidd for the No. 10 spot on the all-time playoff three-pointers list during Thursday's Game 6, per NBA on ESPN.

Curry also owns the record for most consecutive playoff games with a three-pointer made, having sunk at least one in each of his 57 career postseason appearances to date.
