Chloe Kim Wins Another ESPY—Best Female Action Sports Athlete

Yes, we are two days behind… but we have our own ROTY awards so we can’t always be held to a timely manner when it comes to other achievements. That being said, congratulations are in order for Chloe Kim after being the only snowboarder to take home an ESPY this past week for Best Female Action Sports Athlete. Chloe beat Zoi Sadowski-Synnott—who also had an incredible year—in the same field while the only other snowboarder nominated (Scotty James for Best Male Action Sports Athlete) lost to Nyjah Huston in said category.

Along with the congratulations, Chloe’s award presentation received some flack online for the way it happened. Twitter users asked why she even had to show up if ESPN was just going to give the award to her before the show on the red carpet. But to be fair… Chloe is pretty used to victory laps, and what is more of a victory lap than getting an award before the show even starts and having no pressure whatsoever sitting through the night?

Looking back on her year, Chloe took the top spot at the Dew Tour and X Games, just missing the gold sweep at the U.S. Open after Maddie Mastro put down an incredible run. There was no Olympic gold in her resume like last ESPYS when she took home three awards including Best Female Athlete, but she has to be stoked with another ESPY in her pocket. Chloe won the award last year, and is now tied with Jamie Anderson with two Best Female Action Sports ESPYS for the most in the category. The award has been given to a snowboarder ten times over the sixteen years they have handed it out. Will Chloe go for three? TUNE IN TO THE ESPYS NEXT YEAR TO FIND OUT! We will probably report on it a few days later as well, so you can check right back here on July 12, 2020! See you then.
