Description
Balhaf, au milieu des dunes qui bordent la cote, est une oasis avec ses palmiers, puis le sable blanc fait place a des champs de lave noire jusqu'au port de pêche de Bir-Ali. Puis Qana, I'un des point majeurs du départ de la Route de I'Encens, fut le grand port de I'ancien royaume de I'Hadramawt, il est dominé par une colline, Husn al-Ghurab ou subsistent des vestiges antiques. A I'écart se trouve sur un volcan éteint, un lac cratere aux eaux turquoises. La route "Corniche" côtière mène à Burum, qui s'élève par moments dans les montagnes pour mieux dominer lamer. Burum, typique port de pêcheurs a eu aussi un passé glorieux, vieux village entouré de fours a gypse pour faire le quss. Non loin, par une faille spectaculaire on aperçoit la grande baie de Mukalla. Les lies sont peuplées d'oiseaux migrants d'Inde ou d'Afrique.
