Titans Sign DB Maurice Smith to Futures Contract

NASHVILLE -- The Titans on Monday signed defensive back Maurice Smith to a futures contract.

Smith, who played collegiately at Alabama and Georgia, spent time on the team's practice squad during the 2020 season.

Smith has spent time with the Miami Dolphins and Washington Football Team since entering the NFL in 2017. He's played in 15 career games, and has six career tackles. After transferring from Alabama, Smith recorded 50 tackles, three passes defended, two interceptions and two forced fumbles at Georgia in 2016.

Futures contract go into effect on the first day of the new league year. Since there are no practice squads during the offseason, teams are allowed to sign players for the offseason as they prepare for the next season.
