Help to support truly

independent journalism

No one dictates to The Independent – not political parties, nor advertisers, nor shareholders. That’s why we are truly independent. Our journalists report as they see it. Our commentators are free-thinking but rooted in fact. With the highest quality online news under threat from an unprecedented blow to the global economy, your support is vital.

When our most senior journalist in the US, Andrew Buncombe, was arrested while reporting at a Black Lives Matter protest, he gained an extraordinary insight into a failing system – jailed and assaulted in the land of the First Amendment. Your contributions will help fund projects such as his work on police culture and threats to a free press.
