DAILY BOWIE THING – Day 89
“And showed me the leather belt round his hips…”
In celebration of the relaunch of the website The Young American (see previous story), here are some bits relevant to the period.
...All the way back on Day 3 of #DailyBowieThing, we featured the official 1974 Diamond Dogs Tag as seen on the left in our montage.
Pictured here with it this time are two official Bowie belt buckles. Top right is the 1975 solid brass promotional Young Americans buckle and below that is the pewter Diamond Dogs Bowie logo buckle produced the following year in 1976.
Though these particular buckles are very hard to find these days, the dog tag turns up frequently enough. But if you are after it, don’t just buy the first one you see. One went at the start of last month for £130 and then one sold on the same auction site at the end of the month for £15.
The technical term for this discrepancy is 'Sod's law', by all accounts.
