On the eve of the new year and with the longest day behind us, it seems apposite for this absolute cracking song when delivered by a true (yet undervalued) superstar. Julie Driscoll was the best soul voice produced by the UK – bar none. I love the power of her voice, her confidence and phrasing. This is the first of a number of songs I will share from this time. Why? Because she deserves a far higher profile, it's more accessible than some of her later work and it knocks many of her contemporaries into a cocked hat. Yes, even those so-called 'greats'. It also happens to ome from my favourite time for music.
