Rising artist Andra Day has released her new single "Rise Up," where she proves that she deserves to be the next big thing in music.
Day's sultry, powerhouse voice is reminiscent of Adele meets Welsh songstress Duffy meets Billie Holiday. She co-penned "Rise Up" with Jennifer Decilveo. It is a track from her Cheers To The Fall album, which was released on August 28, via her record label, Buskin Records/Warner Bros. Records.
"And we'll rise up, Rise like the waves, We'll rise up, In spite of the ache, We'll rise up, And we'll do it a thousands times again," Day sings.
Her voice combines elements of R&B;, soul, adult contemporary, blues, traditional pop and even jazz, thus showcasing her versatility as a recording artist. She maintains great control over her voice, especially her whistle register, and her range is tremendous. The lyrics for her relationship tune "Rise Up" tugs at the heart, and they are optimistic and encouraging.
