The voice behind one of Disney's most famous princess is now 86 years old—and still acting like the noble royal she is. Mary Costa, who voiced Princess Aurora in the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty, just released an open letter to all of her fans, and gave everyone some insight on her wonderful friendship with Walt Disney.

The letter was released to coincide with Costa's 86th birthday. The note reflects on her role and its legacy with fans around the world. She talks about working on the role with Walt Disney himself, who gave her advice that she still uses to this day. According to MTV, she got the role after a chance meeting with the film's composer in 1952.

"One of the most significant achievements in my career was working with Walt Disney as the voice of Princess Aurora for his animated masterpiece Sleeping Beauty. As a young performer in my first major role, Mr. Disney often encouraged me by saying: 'Mary, just remember the three Ds…Dedication, Determination, and Discipline, and you'll achieve your Dreams!'"

She mentions that ever since her iconic role, she's tried her best to respond to every single letter and request for an autograph. But now that she's 86, it's become harder and harder to keep up with the demand. She has now decided to stop responding to mailed requests for autographs, but promises to keep signing in person and to meet with as many fans as possible.

"Today, I believe Mr. Disney's message of achieving your dreams has never been more important, especially for children. I will now be concentrating my efforts on working with young children on a more personal level, sharing with new generations of dreamers the moral values and creative vision of my forever friend and mentor, Walt Disney."

Princess Aurora would definitely be proud.
