Solar panels planning on being planted in posey county, but many in the area aren’t thrilled to be going solar.
A 6:00 p.m. area planning meeting concluded in Posey County around 9:00 p.m., and in this meeting officials spoke on how far these solar panels should be placed away from properties and property values.
Around 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, a group of more than 100 Posey County citizens came together on their tractors to protest against the implementation of more than 3200 acres of solar panels.
The head of the group said he just wanted to make sure the solar panels weren’t placed too close to properties and schools and that the value of Posey County residents property wouldn’t fall once solar panels were implemented.
The area planning commission made no recommendation on guaranteeing posey county property values, but they did recommend all solar panels be at least 300 feet from non-participating home owners and at least 500 feet from non-participating schools and public property.
But posey county citizens inside were unhappy.
More than eight interrupting the meeting with shouting before being escorted out. Many saying they wanted at least 500 feet of space between their homes and the solar panels, and many left upset and wondering how their property values will be affected once these solar panels are implemented across miles of Posey County.
The things voted on in Wednesday's meeting were just recommendations. This ordinance will now be pushed to the Posey County commissioners for them to vote on
