Lucus Gingold (pronounced GHIN-gold) enters his third season at Fresno State and first as an assistant coach. He will assist with the running backs and special teams unit alongside Coach Christian. He perviously served as a special teams quality control assistant for two seasons with the Bulldogs.

Prior to joining the Bulldogs, Gingold was on staff at Clovis West High School.

Gingold played collegiately at the University of California from 2012-14 after two seasons at Reedley College. He redshirted his first year at Cal before playing in all 12 games and starting four as a redshirt junior during the 2013 season, and then saw action in six games as a senior in 2014 before suffering a season-ending injury. He spent most of that stretch as the team’s top fullback with blocking his primary responsibility. Statistically, he finished with four receptions for 41 yards and one touchdown catch during his Cal career.
As a senior, Gingold earned a scholarship during training camp after initially joining the squad as a walk-on and was subsequently named a team season captain. He also served as game captain in a contest vs. Arizona.

As a JuCo player, Gingold was a first-team All-Central Valley Conference selection during his 2011 sophomore season as a fullback.

A Fresno native, Gingold attended Buchanan High School where he was a second-team All-Valley selection who was also a team captain and his squad’s outstanding lineman of the year as a 2009 senior center for a club that finished 10-1 overall and won its second straight Tri-River League title with a 5-0 conference mark.

He graduated from Cal in December of 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology.
