The House Of Him is free on Amazon Prime Video. I wrote, shot, directed, edited it. It’s a micro-budget horror film about men, and it stars and and - who are all amazing in it. Give it a go!

I am pretty much “off Twitter”. Follow me on Instagram if you fancy. There will still be updates here for shows etc, but not much else. It’s been “fun”.

Just jumping on to help push this out - I’ve worked with Catherine on a feature script, and she’s brilliant. Register for this:

It is disgraceful. Social media is poison. So on these days we need to address the truth of that, I think. We are powering the pain-machine that is hurting and killing - yes, killing - people. And for what? For what?

I’ve seen people lose grip of reality on social media. There is daily pain for non-white people, women, transgender people, the list goes on. I constantly ask myself - why am I on this thing? The truth? “I might need to use it to sell tickets or something.”

It’s made it easy to bully, easy to condemn, easy to vilify, easy to troll. It’s made trolling a thing we reward. It’s reduced nuanced thought to memes. It’s made it easy to psychologically torture minority groups.

What has social media given us? Something to obsess over. A gamification of popularity. A dopamine hit. Gamergate. Right-wing grifters. The conversion of friends and family into political extremists. Anti-vaxxers. Conspiracy Theorists. Trump. Brexit.

We have to accept that we’re all culpable in this mess by how we’ve submitted to the poison that is social media. And it is absolute poison. Twitter, Facebook, and how we’ve all trapped ourselves in this airless jar? It’s a large part of this disgrace.

Last point - “See her how she flies Golden sails across the sky.” The moon doesn’t do that, or look like that. And yet, it does.

Annoyed that a typo put an extra N in Glen Campbell’s name up there, I’ll pop back in to say that this song contains nothing unnecessary or extraneous. “The moon, a phantom, rose Through the mountains and the pines” Novelists take pages to paint imagery like that.

The song contains the lyric - “I fell out of her eyes. I fell out of her heart.” I could write and write for a thousand years and never write anything so great.

Later in his life, Glenn sang the song to finish on “The sky is made of stone,” because he recognised that Jimmy Webb wrote one of the greatest lyrics of all time with that one.

If you ever need a good greet, which is always good for you, try listening to the saddest song ever written. Hey, maybe the best song ever written. Sung by a legend.

It’s not all gloom today. It is the day the universe gave us the birth of Burnistoun’s , who left the mean streets to travel through time in a kilt. He’s hotly tipped to be the next James Bond and Doctor Who. Enjoy this beautifully shot gif of him. Who shot this?!

Somebody check on Neil Oliver. He’ll be up on top of Holyrood with a sword in one hand and a bottle of Timotei in the other.

  20. It’s been a hard year, but I got married to the love of my life, so it was also the best year. Thanks 2020. Here’s me holding a photo of my late ma and da on their wedding day, my da with hair and everything. That’s my wife Jenn Celine Florence, by the way. Photo by
