MARINA

Marina has returned with "Purge the Poison," a guitar-driven track about the work that must be done to heal the planet and ourselves, today (April 14).

The singer-songwriter also announced that her fifth studio album, Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land, will arrive on June 11.

The song is an Earth Day anthem of sorts, as Marina sings about the challenges of "protecting the planet" and "healing our own damage," while referencing historic pop culture moments, such as Britney Spears shaving her head, Harvey Weinstein, and the #MeToo movement.

"It’s a new world order⁣, everything just falls away⁣/ Our life as we knew it now belongs to yesterday/ Inside all the love and hate we can now regenerate/It's all that we believe in every single day," she sings, suggesting that the pandemic is an opportunity to change our poisonous ways.

"Purge the Poison" follows "Man's World," released in November 2020, which will also appear on Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land.
