Remembering LaDonna Brave Bull Allard (1956-2021)

The museum regrets the passing of LaDonna Brave Bull Allard, Standing Rock Sioux historian, who helped to coordinate resistance to the Dakota Access pipeline. LaDonna worked with Butch Thunder Hawk, Castle McLaughlin, and their team to develop the exhibit Wiyohpiyata: Lakota Images of the Contested West, which foregrounds contemporary Lakota perspectives.  As Tourism Coordinator at Standing Rock, La Donna guided the team to significant places on the reservation and narrated several of the gallery videos created by Professor Lucien Taylor.
