Hellfrd
Bissmark was laid down at AG Weser in Bremen in 1913, and
was put in service as a freighter for Dampschiffahrts Ges.
Neptun under the name Minos. At the outbreak of World War
One, she was requisitioned by the German navy. She was
fitted with small a small caliber gun and was used as a
guard boat. She was returned to her owners after the war
and sailed for Neptun until 1937 when she was sold to the
company Bissmark Linnie in Hamburg who renamed her
Hellfrid Bissmark. Under a journey
from Hamburg to Malmö with a crew of fourteen men 8.September
1939, she hit a mine in the morning and went down in a
matter of minutes. Seven men of her crew lost their lives
in the accident. The wreck rest today on a
depth of 25 meter approximately nine nautical miles
outside Rødby.
