Meghan Markle gets stern 'no complaining' advice from Luxembourg Duchess 'You're lucky!'
MEGHAN MARKLE has been warned about the "reality" of becoming a royal by the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, who opened up about the role demanding things be done "without complaining".

The Luxembourg Royal Family has given a rare look behind-the-scenes into what it is like to live in a modern monarchy. The Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, Maria Teresa, sat down with ABC's Good Morning America for their 'Behind Palace Doors' series. The royal spouse, a self-described "outsider" who married into the dynasty, was asked if she had any "advice" for those in a similar position to Meghan Markle.

Maria Teresa said: "They have to understand what you have to give up and also what you have to give.
"We have the tendency to give the impression that belonging to a Royal Family is very red carpet, tiaras and beautiful things.
"But I can tell you that having a tiara on your head for five hours at a state dinner can give you a serious headache.
"That's also the other side of the reality."

She continued: "It's also a life that demands more.
"More dedication and doing things without complaining.
"And when you're confronted with situations where you cannot do what you want to do, you're not going to denounce the whole system that you belong to.
"You're lucky to have married into this."

The Grand Duchess of Luxembourg is the equivalent of the country's queen.
Born in Cuba, her family fled to New York during the revolution after the new government confiscated her family's properties.
Eventually, they settled in Geneva and she also briefly lived in Santander, Spain.
While at university she met the then Crown Prince Henri of Luxembourg.

They were married in two ceremonies in 1981 when she was 25-years-old.
She received a bouquet of red roses as a wedding gift from Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.
The couple have five children: Guillaume, Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Prince Félix, Prince Louis, Princess Alexandra and Prince Sébastien.
She and her husband acceded to the throne in 2000 following the death of his father Jean, Grand Duke of Luxembourg.
