If you want to manage your Walmart credit card online – say, you’d like to check your balance or pay your bill – you will first need to know what type of card you have.

For Walmart Credit Cards or Walmart Mastercards:

If you have one of these cards, your account was issued by Synchrony. You’ll need to visit Synchrony’s site to pay your bill, view your statement, set up alerts or sign-up for e-billing.

If you’re a new customer, click the Register button. You’ll need to provide your Walmart card number, billing zip code and other personal information to continue. Once the system verifies these details, you can access your new account.

If you already have an online account, enter your user ID and password on the Synchrony site to access it.

For Walmart Rewards™ Cards or Capital One® Walmart Rewards™ Mastercard®s:

You can manage either card from this Capital One website.

For new customers, click the “Set up my account” link. You’ll need to provide your last name and birth date, along with your Social Security number, individual taxpayer identification number or bank account number.

Have your Capital One card nearby because you’ll be asked to link it to your online account. After the system verifies your card, you can sign into your new account.

If you already have a Capital One online account, click the “Sign in” button and enter your username and password.

But before you close your card, ask for the full payoff amount to ensure the account will not maintain a balance that accrues interest charges and fees. You’ll want to take the proper steps to close your account the right way and avoid damage to your credit.

If you’d like to remove the closed account from your credit report, you can also take steps to make sure it doesn’t affect your credit score.
