Everything Nintendo announced in its E3 2021 “Direct” presentation

Nintendo rolled out dozens of game and feature announcements over the course of a nearly 40-minute Direct presentation today. If you don't have the time or inclination to watch the entire video, we've gathered all of the relevant news in a convenient quick-access format below.

Upcoming Switch exclusives

• Metroid Dread is the first completely new 2D Metroid game in about 19 years and focuses on "a new feel, showcasing a variety of threats." It's coming to Switch on October 8 as Nintendo continues work on Metroid Prime 4. Read more in our separate write-up.

 

• We got the first gameplay footage of the anticipated sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which is due in 2022. A bit more detail is available in our separate write-up.

 

• Warioware: Get It Together brings the popular microgame collection to Switch, where you'll control Wario and co. in short, five-second bursts to complete simple tasks like unplugging a drain, spinning a windmill, tweezing body hair, and dodging pigeon poop. A new two-player mode will be a prominent feature in this September 10 release.

 

• Mario Party Superstars collects 100 minigames and five game boards from previous Mario Party titles into a new Switch collection, complete with full online support. Unlike the motion-controlled Super Mario Party, these games will all work with regular button controls. Coming on October 29.

 

• Shin Megami Tensei V continues the popular pre-Persona series, where you fight, recruit, and fuse demons that have taken over modern-day Tokyo. This one will be a Switch exclusive when it launches on November 12.

 

Other upcoming Switch titles

• Square Enix's planet-hopping Guardians of the Galaxy will come to the Switch on October 26. The publisher showed off an extended gameplay demo earlier in the week.
• The "fully hand-painted world" and turn-based 2D JRPG combat of Astria Ascending comes to the Switch on September 30, alongside Windows, Xbox One, Series X/S, and PS4/5 versions.
• Just Dance 2022 delivers what the title promises yet again on the Switch on November 4, alongside versions for the Xbox One, Series X/S, PS4/5, and Stadia.
• Raw Thrills' arcade racer Cruis'n Blast is being ported to the Switch as a console exclusive with four-player support this fall.
• Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin once again lets players ride a "monstie" companion across the fields in a more fun-filled RPG take on the franchise. It hits the Switch and Windows on July 9, with a free Switch demo set for June 25.
• Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is coming to the Switch in 2022. We saw much more of this sequel at Ubisoft's press presentation over the weekend.

Existing games/ports/remasters

• A new Zelda-themed color Game & Watch collectible (in the style of last year's Mario version) is launching on November 12. This one will feature playable versions of the original Legend of Zelda, its NES sequel Adventures of Link, and the Game Boy's Link's Awakening, as well as a Zelda-themed version of original Game & Watch title Vermin. It will also have a playable clock mode with randomized dungeons and enemies.
• Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp collects the well-loved turn-based tactics war games from the Game Boy Advance, "reimagined and remastered from the ground up" for the Switch. Look for it on December 3.
• The Switch is getting ports of the Life Is Strange Remastered Collection and spin-off game True Colors on September 10, alongside versions for Windows, Xbox One, Series X/S, PS4/5, and Stadia.
• Danganronpa Decadence brings the first three games from the cult-classic schoolhouse murder investigation series to the Switch, complete with an expanded spin-off digital board game. The Switch compilation will be available exclusively as a physical release later this year, while the individual games will be available for separate purchase digitally as well.
• Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water lets you once again use a camera to capture spirits on a haunted mountain. It's getting a Switch port later this year, well after its 2015 launch on the Wii U. Separate ports are also coming to Windows, Xbox One, Series X/S, and PS4/5.
• Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania, a remastered version of the first three games in the GameCube-era monkey-rolling series, will hit the Switch on October 5, alongside versions for Xbox One, Series X/S, and PS4/5.
• Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot lets you explore a vast world and battle through four separate sagas from the anime. It hits the Switch on September 24 with a new "Power Awakens" set, after an early 2020 release on Windows, PS4, and Xbox One.
• The cross-platform 32-player real-time battling of Worms Rumble comes to the Switch on June 23, months after its December launch on Windows, Xbox One, Series X/S, and PS4/5.
• Tekken's Kazuya is the next DLC fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. More details will come at an extended presentation that will be streamed on June 28.
• Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 1 DLC hits the Switch later today.
• Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 launches on the Switch on June 25 after releasing on other consoles last year.
