    I am not in favor of the "players shouldn't know anything" idea that lives within ttrpg culture. There have been a significant number of designers who have worked their way away from this, but I feel like there are openings to take it a lot further, culturally.

  10. But it makes me appreciate more the way in which FFG's Star Wars system, to give one example, encourages a narrative approach to tools. "Does it make sense for this tool to be useful in this task? Then give it a bonus."

  11. Most games would look at that, say, "Oh, the steel is more efficient at the primary task, give it a bigger bonus," and move on. And perhaps that's good enough. Certainly it could be overly fiddly to go into encumbrance and fatigue mechanics.
