Since 1977, the New York Institute for the Humanities has brought together distinguished scholars, writers, and publishing professionals to address the place and possibilities of the humanities in public life. The NYIH nurtures collaborations and conversations among its network of fellows and engages a diverse group of constituencies through weekly seminars and in public events. It is dedicated to supporting the life of ideas beyond the academy, especially in New York, to broadening more inclusively the intellectual vision informing public life, and to re-envisioning our ever-fragile cultural and intellectual infrastructure in a moment of intense social and technological change.
