While topping the charts doesn't always mean recognition come award season, EXO and Taeyang's enviable record sales around the world undoubtedly helped them earn top honors at the 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) in Hong Kong Wednesday. So far this year, the K-pop power houses are the only two male acts from Korea to chart albums on the Billboard 200 (EXO's Overdose flew to No. 129 in May and Taeyang's Rise landed at No. 112 in June) and both acts picked up top honors at 2014 MAMA, considered a local equivalent to the MTV Video Music Awards.

Following up their Album of the Year win from 2013, EXO once again snagged the award along with Best Male Group, Artist of the Year in Asia and the 2014 MAMA Best Asian Style award.

Meanwhile, Teayang grabbed Best Male Artist, Best Vocal Performance Male and the Song of the Year award for his K-Pop Hot 100 chart-topper "Eyes, Nose, Lips."

But they weren't the only acts that shined, as John Legend performed his Hot 100 hit "Green Light" alongside Girls' Generation member Tiffany and Chen of EXO before receiving a special International Favorite Artist award.

"It's such a huge honor to be here at the Mnet Asian Music Awards," the R&B star told the crowd. "This is my first time here at these awards and I'm so honored to be awarded this special award as an international artist. For me, I come from a small town in Ohio and I always dreamed I would be able to make music for a living, but I never dreamed that it would take me so many places. I'm so happy to have fans in Asia that really love my music. Thank you to each of you, thank you for supporting this music."

All earning three awards each, IU, INFINITE and SISTAR all gave memorable performances throughout the night: IU teamed up with Seo Taiji, INFINITE delivered a choreography-heavy medley of "Last Romeo" and "Back" while SISTAR performed "Some," Soyou's collaboration with Junggigo, with a slew of unexpected duet partners including Block B's P.ONam Joo Hyun and Lee Jonghyuk. Meanwhile, Taeyang closed his epic night and the ceremony with the first-ever live performance of "Good Boy" with G-Dragon and a duo rendition of BIGBANG's biggest international hit, "Fantastic Baby."
