Fenerbahce Sack Luis Aragones

Luis Aragones' departure from Fenerbahce has been confirmed by the Turkish club...
Fenerbahce have officially sacked coach Luis Aragones after just one season in charge of the club, and he could now make a dramatic return to Real Betis in the summer.

The 70-year-old trainer spent only one campaign in Istanbul, having made the surprise move to join Fenerbahce after stepping down as Spain's national team trainer last year.

Aragones won the European Championships with La Furia Roja and was then tempted to join Fener, whom he led to fourth place in the table while one of the club's fierce rivals, Besiktas, won the Turkish league.

News of the vastly experienced coach's likely departure from Sukru Saracoglu Stadium was leaked last month and the club have since been linked with several high-profile bosses, including Frank Rijkaard.

Now Aragones will have to consider his options, having already been asked whether he would like to try his luck in charge of Belgium's national team.

Betis could also make a move for the man who has coached them twice and spent three seasons in the verdiblanco shirt as a player, but there have as yet been no official moves made by anyone.
