Description

Grab your favorite morning beverage and pastry  and join us for this virtual monthly engagement series that will  be facilitated by Dr. Emma Bloomfield, Assistant Professor in Communication Studies. This three-part series will focus on developing more inclusive practices in the classroom and in creating materials that foster an anti-racist curriculum.

Dates

Wednesday, February 3, 2021.

Dr. Emma Bloomfield will demonstrate strategies for how to build an inclusive classroom environment, how to draft your course syllabus to reflect more inclusive content, and offer a variety of materials for students to learn from. Given recent national events, it is more important than ever for college campuses to be more intentional in creating curriculums that is responsive to and reflective of the students they serve.

Krishen, Professor and Director of Marketing & International Business, Dr. Han-fen Hu, Associate Professor and Graduate Coordinator for IS Programs, and Dr. Sharolyn D. Pollard-Durodola, Professor of English Language Learning

Wednesday, April 7, 2021.

Our final meeting will be an interactive workshop designed to allow participants the opportunity to obtain direct feedback about their own course materials, and receive ideas and suggestions for enhancing diversity and inclusivity in their classrooms.

Professors’ Circle is designed to encourage discussions between first generation, new and junior faculty on the intersections of university life. We hope you will join us to discuss academic and career interests, and consider the many possibilities for collaboration on interdisciplinary research. The Intersection provides an opportunity for faculty to network, enhance staff development and build a shared sense of community at UNLV.

The Spring 2021 series is co-sponsored by the UNLV Black Professional Women's’ Alliance and  Women's’ Council.
