AWATOTO bOAP WORKS DESTROYED.

PR ESS ASSOCIATION. Napier. October 26 The Hawke's Bay Soap and Tannery Co.'s works at Awatoto were tot ally'.destroyed by fire this morning. The flames had a good hold when the fire was discovered and, in the absence of fire-fighting appliances, the structure was soon reduced to ashes. The insurances are as follows : Soapworks : In the Phcenix £l3s°, Norwich Union £IO.O, and Royal £IOOO. The contents were insured for £I4OO in various offices. The loss over and above the insurance is estimated at from £3OOO to £4OOO. Auckland, October 26 Fire at Devonport early this morning, destroyed a house in Mosley Avenue, owned by Mr Parker and occupied by Mr Chas. Sainty. Mrs Sainty and family escaped in their night attire.
